The Goscope Extreme telescoping monopod helps you add an important element to your GoPro footage: you.  The GoPro is one of the world‘s most versatile video cameras, and it is extremely popular among outdoor enthusiasts and adrenaline junkies.  The GoPro comes with a variety of mounts for a variety of situations.  However, the mounts seem more to let people see the world through your eyes rather than see your eyes.

Enter the GoScope.  The GoScope Extreme is a lightweight, extendable pole mount for the GoPro.  The camera mount locations on the GoScope allow you to actually capture images of you.  The GoScope Extreme weighs just 6.25 oz and ranges from 17 inches closed to three feet fully extended.  When retracted, it can easily fit in even small packs.  The padded handle is quite comfortable and provides a good gripping surface for assuring that you don‘t drop the pole during your action shots.  Plus, there is an adjustable lanyard that wraps around your wrist for additional insurance.  I found the balance of the GoScope to be perfect even with two GoPros mounted and the pole fully extended.  Even after holding the GoScope during two hours of hiking, I did not notice any fatigue.

As expected for this sort of product, the GoScope Extreme is a dynamic mount that can take shots from a variety of angles.  With the dual end mounts, you can simultaneously get shots of you and your chosen adventure.  Janus would approve.  It‘s a great option for ATV riding, snowboarding, skiing, horseback riding, running, hiking, road trips, and numerous other activities.  It floats and works well for diving and snorkeling.  The GoScope is also great for concerts and sporting events and allows you to get the GoPro above the crowd for unobstructed footage.

My favorite use of the GoScope was not for video footage, however.  I found it is great for getting still shots using the time delay camera of the GoPro.  The GoScope assures that you are never without a photographer.  As you most likely heard, selfie was named the Oxford Dictionary Word of the Year for 2013.  But admit it, most selfies are pretty horrible.    Not so with the GoScope.  The GoScope allows self-photographs to be taken from a variety of angles.  And with the large storage capacity of the GoPro‘s memory cards, you can take several photos to assure you have at least a few that you are happy with.

So mount a GoPro or two, pack the GoScope Extreme, and go.  Its small size and light weight make it unobtrusive.  Whether you want a dynamic mount to capture video footage that actually shows you, or you need your own personal photographer for solo treks, the GoScope is perfect.  The GoScope Extreme can be purchased from www.go-scope.com for $54.95.
