New Tools From Silca

SILCA expands from pumps to portable tools with their new multi-configuration ratchet and titanium torque tool, which feature advanced design and superior ergonomics.

The award winning HX-One Home Essentials tool kit from 2015 was not enough. Now SILCA expands their line of bike tools into the portable and travel category as well. First up is a 5 position multi-ratchet called T-Ratchet. Next is their 30 gram torque measuring extender called Ti-Torque.  Pair them for your torque-critical missions like bars, stems, posts, and carbon bits. No more rounded heads, stripped nuts, or cracked carbon fiber.

The T-Ratchet is a 100mm long, 60 gram tool. It’s light enough to pack on most rides. Thanks to magnets, you can convert it from a t-handle tool to thumb stabilized ratchet tool, or flag handled screwdriver. This tool uses a SILCA’s own 72 tooth ratchet mechanism for much finer (five degree) engagement than other designs. Pop in any 1/4″ drive bit, and go.

Their Ti-Torque is a 30 gram, 100mm long extender for the T-Ratchet. It can measure 0-8Nm torque readings with no need to set anything. It’s based on a simple but effective 6Al/4V titanium torsion beam. And for ease of use, it displays torque on the side of the extender in real time.

In all, SILCA spent more than 10 months to develop these tools. They worked with many ProTour mechanics, fit studios, adventure athletes and others. This was done to refine the design and gain the best ergonomics.”We started this project with great excitement, but the response from our test athletes and mechanics in the field has been truly overwhelming. We’ve literally had product testers refuse to send them back for evaluation as they felt the tools were too critical to their daily lives,” said SILCA president Josh Poertner. “Stories of fixing bicycles at the Dauphine and Giro, on the Tour Divide route, adjusting ski bindings in a helicopter on the way up a mountain and so many more. We are thrilled that we can finally bring accurate torque and along with superior ergonomics and function to this category.”

Want to be the first to get your hands on these sexy tools? Check out their Kickstarter here. It’s already fully funded, so you know they will go into production. But not only will you get them first, you can even save a few bucks. The fact that they are from SILCA means you can expect them to work well, and last a long time.
