ColdPruf® Launches Value-Priced 100% Merino Base Layer

ColdPruf Classic Layer is Company’s first full merino garment

YADKINVILLE, N.C. – January, 2014 – ColdPruf will launch a new 100% merino wool silk weight base layer later this month at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market, the company announced today, the first merino piece in the ColdPruf mill’s 100 year history.

The fine, soft wool of the merino sheep has been a favorite of athletes and outdoor enthusiasts for years for its next-to-skin comfort, moisture management and natural odor resistance and UV protection, but products knit from it have always commanded a premium price.

“Merino is nature’s perfect fiber, combining many of the features we strive for in synthetics with an unmatched feel against the skin,” said John Willingham, president of ColdPruf parent company Indera Mills. “The biggest hurdle has always been the cost of high quality merino, but in our new Classic layer we’ve been able to bring the benefits of the fiber down to a price point that’s more accessible.”

The Classic Layer features a 5 oz. silk weight, flat seam construction for a smooth fit, tagless labeling and cuts designed specifically for freedom of movement and comfort. All ColdPruf base layers feature true sizing to provide the most accurate fit possible and the Classic is available in sizes S – 2XL for both men and women. Retail pricing is $64 for tops or bottoms.

The new merino model joins ColdPruf’s line of base layers that includes apparel made from a fire resistant synthetic, recycled post-consumer plastics and cotton. ColdPruf is a division of Indera Mills, which in 2014 celebrates 100 years of creating quality apparel in 2014.
