I was super excited when I found out that Finish Line was allowing me to review this product. I took my main mountain bike (yes I own more than one) through mud, rainy, and dry conditions before testing the Pro Care Kit 8.0 out, as I wanted to see its full potential. In all seriousness, it wouldn‘t be a fair or an accurate review to only clean a bike with just sweat and dust on it.
Now that it was in need of a serious bath, I started off by giving the bike a quick rinse, then using Finish Line‘s Multi Degreaser on the drivetrain area, incorporating the Grunge Brush to remove the hard to get to areas. The long bristles really get down into the jockey wheels, pedals, and cassette area well. The opposite end scrubs the chain on all 4 sides when back pedaling and applying degreaser. I suggest using Finish Line‘s Speed Degreaser for the derailleur jockey wheels and chain. The Speed Degreaser blasts away that muck that usually takes a toothbrush to remove.
With another quick rinse it was time for a scrub down with Finish Line Super Bike Wash, accompanied by the included scrub brush. Attaching the squirt nozzle and spraying down the bike, I scrubbed the areas that needed a little help. After giving it a final rinse off and wipe down my bike was shining like new.
Finalizing my cleanup and maintenance I used a product previously reviewed here at Industry Outsider to oil my chain, Finish Line‘s No Drip Chain Luber combined with their Finish Line Wet lubricant.
Finish Line really exceeded my expectations by combining all of the included products of the Pro Care Bucket kit 8.0 in a clever wash bucket. I don‘t know that I‘d add any products to the kit other than a chain cleaner. My only cons would be that the chain end of the Grunge Brush could clean the chain a bit better. For a super dirty chain I will still scrub and soak the chain off the bike to remove all the grime. The Water-Tight Easy-Carry scrub Bucket could also be a little better built as it is pretty flimsy and best used as storage container.
Finish Line‘s Pro Care Bucket Kit 8.0 is a great buy for yourself or that avid cyclist in your life. Anyone who has invested money in a bike should maintain it properly, and that includes keeping it clean.
