Vacuum insulated bottles are really popular right now and for good reason – they work. Zoku is known for their housewares and their Quick Pop Makers are what got them started. Recently, Zoku sent out an 18 ounce stainless steel bottle for test and review. I like my hot drinks hot and my cold drinks cold, so this is a great match for me.
The Zoku stainless steel bottles are made from a heavy gauge 18/8 stainless steel. I’m not a steels expert so I had to use my Google Fu skills to find that that this stainless is 18% chromium and 8% nickel. This type of stainless steel has a higher corrosion resistance than some others. The bottle feels sturdy and it hasn’t dented from accidentally dropping it on the tile floor.
The threads for the cap are on the inside of the mouth of the bottle. That makes a smooth comfortable surface for drinking. The cap has a somewhat grippy feel and it takes just a bit less than one full turn to remove. A nice, heavy section of paracord is on the lid so you can attach the bottle to a bag and the cord is easily removable. The seal is good and nothing has leaked out of the test bottle.
Zoku says the vacuum insulated bottle will keep hot stuff hot for 12 hours and cold drinks stay cold for up to 40 hours. I use my bottle for coffee so I haven’t ran a 40 hour cold test but my coffee stays plenty hot from 7 a.m. until I drink it in the late afternoon. The coffee isn’t as hot as it was straight from the maker but it’s still hot coffee when I want it.
This bottle isn’t meant for the dishwasher so wash it by hand using a bottle brush. The mouth is wide enough to see inside so you can inspect for any dirt or residue. My 18 ounce bottle is 9.5 inches tall by 2.75 inches around so it’s not difficult to clean.
The Zoku 18 Ounce Stainless Steel bottle is available on the Zoku website for $29.99. It comes in a variety of colors so everyone should be able to find a color they enjoy. I like the medium sized bottle opening. It is big enough to get ice cubes in but still small enough to be comfortable to drink. The smooth outer edge is way better than bottles that are threaded on the outside and it stays clean. Check out the Zoku website HERE.
Thanks to Zoku for providing their bottle for our test and review.
